Evaluation

Geothermal Energy is location specific and therefore evaluation of the area is the first step in any geothermal project undertaking. Evaluations of potential sites are important for reducing risk on investment and delivery of reliable heat forecasts.

Reconnaissance Mapping for Geothermal Potential in large or detailed area projects can be conducted by using Public Data sources. Heat Simulators are then used to design new vertical and horizontal wells. Expertise and state-of-the-art mapping, geo-modelling technology and simulation experience provides the capabilities for modelling and understanding of rock, heat and fluid properties to optimize geothermal well placements and well designs.

Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) requires detailed modelling of the sub-surafce to model the required thick and potentially multiple barriers/caprocks, porous and permeable depleted oil & gas reservoirs  or saline reservoirs and added consideration to ensure the area is sealed from lateral flow. We can create additional value (besides closed-loop systems) by producing minerals from brines rich formation fluids in existing or pairs of producers and injectors.

Cogeneration of geothermal energy for heat, potential electricity for fields plus mineral extraction such as Lithium from water wet reservoirs can be green, more economic, and be a win-win scenario for our clients.

Second life repurposing of existing inventory of older wells slated for abandonment can have added benefits of reducing drilling costs for producing heat, electricity and rare mineral  extraction.
